The present procedure is a direct implementation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum, which represents the comprehensive framework of the European Union for managing migration and asylum and aims to combine solidarity among Member States with responsibility for the effective management of external borders.

The main objectives of the Pact on Migration and Asylum are:

More effective management of migration flows, including through faster and fairer procedures for international protection and return;

Strengthening cooperation with third countries in the field of migration, readmission, and combating smuggling and trafficking networks;

Improving reception conditions and ensuring the protection of the fundamental rights of persons seeking protection;

Fair distribution of responsibilities among Member States through new solidarity mechanisms;

Development of legal pathways for migration and integration into host societies;

Protection of fundamental rights through common screening and asylum procedures that ensure respect for the fundamental rights of migrants.

In view of the above, funding under the Specific Action of the AMIF will support the implementation of measures in line with the National Plan for the Implementation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum, thereby contributing to the effective management of migration flows, as well as to the implementation, strengthening, and further development of the EU’s common asylum policy and common immigration policy.

The objective of the present procedure is to contribute to the effective management of migration flows and to the implementation, strengthening, and development of the common asylum policy and the common migration policy, while fully respecting the relevant EU acquis and the international obligations of the Union and Bulgaria arising from international legal instruments to which they are parties.

In view of the above, funding under the Specific Action of the AMIF will support the implementation of measures in line with the National Plan for the Implementation of the Pact on Migration and Asylum, thereby contributing to the effective management of migration flows, as well as to the implementation, strengthening, and further development of the EU’s common asylum policy and common immigration policy.

The objective of the present procedure is to contribute to the above-mentioned effective management, while fully respecting the relevant EU acquis and the international obligations of the Union and Bulgaria arising from international legal instruments to which they are parties.

Within the overall objective, the implementation of the envisaged operations will contribute more specifically to the strengthening and development of all aspects of the Common European Asylum System, including its external dimension.

The main result of the implementation of the operations is to provide support to the asylum system of the Republic of Bulgaria in terms of infrastructure and services, including at local and regional level.
