Open calls

The National Scientific Research Fund invites Bulgarian research teams to participate in the transnational PRIMA initiative, which supports scientific projects contributing to the sustainable use of resources and economic development in the Mediterranean region. The aim of the programme is to contribute to sustainable development and ecosystem restoration through nature-based solutions and the management of agricultural systems and water resources.

Bulgarian research teams may submit project proposals in the announced call under Section 2 (funded by national funding institutions), in accordance with the Operational Programme for 2026.

Section 2 (Funded by national funding institutions): The thematic areas for the call under Section 2 include:

• Topic 2.1.1-2026 (RIA): Leveraging Ecosystem Functions and Enhancing Water Allocation for the Protection and Restoration of Non-Perennial Watercourses in the Mediterranean;

• Topic 2.2.1-2026 (RIA): Novel remote and non-invasive ICT monitoring and control systems against disease and pest infestation;

• Topic 2.3.1-2026 (RIA): Empowering Mediterranean Food Value Chains through Context-Aware Digital Traceability.
