This procedure for the grant is intended to ensure a stable and effective European integrated border management at the external borders, contributing to the provision of a high level of internal security within the Union, while ensuring the free movement of persons within the Union and fully respecting the relevant Union acquis and the international obligations of the Union and the Member States arising from the international instruments to which they are parties.

Within the overall objective, the implementation of the envisaged operations will contribute in particular to ensuring a sound and effective European integrated management of external borders and to ensuring a high level of internal security within the EU.

The specific objectives of this procedure are to strengthen and reinforce the capacity of the national ETIAS unit, the adaptation of the national fingerprint identification system "Eurodac" and to support the geo-information activities of the GDBP at the State border
